College admission India

College admission is the process through which one student will enter into the post-secondary.

The college admissions differ from country to country. In India, after the completion of higher secondary education, students will go for degree programmes such as engineering, medical, law, bachelor’s degree in arts, commerce or science.

Admission process varies from state to state in India. Admission to State level colleges is based on the state level examinations. Some states have their special examinations for the engineering and medical courses. But for admission into the federal institutes like IITs(engineering), NITs(engineering) etc  depend on  combination of the nationwide examinations and marks of higher secondary .

The main governing body at the post-secondary level is UGC (University Grants Commission). It helps in the coordination between center and state governments.
